The Presentence Investigation 

After conviction or a guilty plea, the Court orders a presentence report (PSR) be prepared by the U.S. Probation Department. The PSR is a critical document in the eyes of the Court because it provides a wealth of information about the client, the offense, and its circumstances.

Preparing for the presentence interview is crucial for the presentence investigation and completion of the PSR. It is important that the client is knowledgeable about the process, the questions asked during the interview, and documentation to be submitted to the probation officer.
