About FSA Group

Fair Sentencing Advocacy (FSA) Group is a defense-based mitigation firm, founded by retired Senior United States Probation Officer Kimberly Artist. FSA Group works as part of the defense team to assist with case strategies, plea negotiations, and the federal sentencing process. Kimberly began her career in capital case mitigation in 1995, with Alfonso Consultants, a forensic social work firm founded by Cecelia “Cessie” Alfonso, one of the premier mitigation specialists and social workers in the country. Kimberly has also previously worked with Carmeta Albarus, author of The Making of Lee Boyd Malvo: The D.C. Sniper and owner of CVA Consulting Services.
In 1998, Kimberly was appointed to the United States Probation Office for the District of New Jersey. She was subsequently promoted to Senior Guideline Specialist. As a sentencing specialist, Kimberly gained extensive experience with a myriad of federal cases, including complex, high-profile cases. She has comprehensive knowledge of the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Third Circuit Case Law, and the United States Sentencing Guidelines, which includes a thorough understanding of departures, variances, and other key mitigating provisions.
Upon retiring from the United States Probation Office, Kimberly launched Fair Sentencing Advocacy Group to use her knowledge and experience to assist justice-impacted individuals.
